Baseball is America’s pastime but things like steroids are ruining the game. Steroids give players an extreme advantage over players that do not use them. Players that use performance-enhancing drugs have an unfair advantage to natural players and receive all the fame and glory that should be given to the truthful players. Using steroids in baseball is cheating and players like Barry Bonds, who has the most homeruns in baseball, and Mark McGuire should not be recognized in the baseball hall of fame. Steroids make athletes bigger, stronger, and give them much more endurance without having to work for it. When people who use steroids break the records that past players worked so hard to get, it is not only a disgrace to the game, but it is a disgrace to that record. Baseball players are supposed to be good role models and when kids hear about these things they now think that is okay to take steroids. I believe that there is no place for steroids in any sport. It ruins the pureness of the game and makes it less enjoyable for everyone.

  1. you have to completely agree with that. How do you think this new era of baseball should be marked in the record books? If baseball players want to keep these records they should at least be tested many times after and when they are getting close to the records to make sure that they are not on anything. Testing though in the game today is not good enough and should be done more often to catch those who can't play the game by them selves.

  2. I complettly agree with your article with the exception of one thing. You say Mark McGuire is prevented from being in the hall of fame because of his steroid use. I think even if the fact that he used steroid he doesn't deserve to be in the hall of fame. His career batting average is below .250, he was a extremely below average fielder and could do nothing else but hit home runs. I think a player needs to be a complete player to make it to the hall of fame.

  3. Steroids just are not good for the game. A player that needs to physically enhance is body to enhance is play is cheating. I dont understand why players cannot just play the right way, the way the game was ment to be played. Roids are ruining the integrity of the game and any player that has used them does not deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.

  4. I agree with you Matt. Steroids create unfair advantages for players. Just think, if it was alright to take steroids, sports would lose one major thing, natural ability. In football, if the players started taking steroids, think about how dangerous it would be. Those guys are large enough to begin with and have enough rage to deal with as well. Add roids to the equation, who knows what would happen.
