Alternatives to steroids

There are many different alternatives other then steroids that will increase your size and strength. Michael George is a very well respective athletic trainer and a fitness expert. He is very pleased with a new supplement called stemulite fitness formula. Most athletes are doing whatever it takes to get results, but many of them are forgetting the health, legal, and the risks that follow using performance enhancing drugs.

In recent studies, using steroids only inflate your muscles without giving your body beneficial results. Stemulite supplements offer the body muscle growth and it also increases your strength. It is a very healthy alternative to steroids and other performance enhancing drugs.

Creatine is a natural amino acid that is necessary to the body to function properly. It has been shown to enhance and athlete’s performance, it is not proven however, to enhance their endurance. Creatine has been proven to increase muscle mass by enhancing the size of the muscle cells. When taking creatine you need to know the proper way to take it because it can cause damage to the body if you take too much.

It is obviously necessary to take some sort of supplement to gain size and strength. Athletes need to become stronger and faster but steroids is not the answer. Hard work and determination is what you need to become a great athlete. Not steroids. People need to realize that it is cheating. Not only that but it is very harmful to the body and in some cases can be fatal.

High School Sports

Everyone knows that when you play a high school sport, there is always a meeting that the parents and participants have to go to. Usually during these meetings a coach will talk about grade-point averages and eligibility, rules of the team and unexcused absences. But what about the use of steroids and other performance enhancing drugs?

In California coaches are making every player sign a pledge that he or she will not use anabolic steroids. Also parents are required to attend a meeting discussing the use of steroids. You may be thinking to yourself “really kids in high school use steroids?” the reality is yes they are.

As soon as I reached high school I noticed a dramatic change in the size of the athletes at school. They were huge, muscular men with tremendous strength and size, this combined with talent made these players very extraordinary. Sure a lot of these people worked hard to get to the condition that they were in, but I wasn’t sure about some of them. One of my good friends, who was also a freshman, was trying out for the varsity football team. He was a great athlete and everyone knew of him. He was a quarterback and surprisingly he had a very good chance of starting over last years starting quarterback, who was now a senior. The senior was a very strong athlete but lacked some of the important skills that the freshman had. The senior was also rumored to be on steroids. In the end the senior started on the team because of his size and power. Surely if the senior was not taking steroids the freshman would of started because of his skill. When you bring steroids into high school this puts the younger kids at a very big disadvantage and it is not fair. This also makes kids tempted to take steroids because they want to be just as big and strong as the older kids.

But much more then starting positions are on the line for these players. Lives are also being put on the line in taking performance-enhancing drugs. In California one high school athlete lost his life, and the parents are saying that it was because of steroids. Players feel the pressure of there sports weighing down on them and therefore feel the need to do something to get to the top. Kids know that a college scholarship is huge for them and there parents, sometimes-even life changing. But is the juice really worth the squeeze?

What are the Side Effects of Steroids?

When people think of steroid abuse in baseball, they often think of how steroids have affected the game. But what have steroids done to the people who have abused and used them. What risks did they take in order to become bigger and more powerful. Some of the effects include:

ACNE, AGRESSION, ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK, BIRTH DEFECTS, BLOOD CLOTTING, DEPRESSION, GYNECOMASTIA, HAIR LOSS, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, IMMUNE SYSTEM, KIDNEY ISSUES, TESTICULAR ATROPHY, ARE JUST SOME OF THE COMMON SIDE EFFECTS OF STEROID USE. WHY WOULD AN ATHLETE RISK HIS HEALTH? IS WINNING THIS IMPORTANT?

I don’t know anyone who is a fan of acne. However, rampant acne is one of the more obvious side effects of steroid use. Another obvious side effect is aggression. It is also one of the scarier effects of steroid use. Men are usually more aggressive than women because of testosterone differences. Some body builders, however, like this side effect because they can lift heavier and lifting becomes more explosive. There have been cases however, where this explosive behavior has damaged their family lives, sometimes resulting in death.

Anaphylatic shock is an allergic reaction to the presence of a foreign protein in the body. People don’t always know what they are allergic to and how their body will respond to medication, chemicals, or even food. Steroids are definitely a foreign substance in the body. No one knows how their bodies will react to steroids.

Anabolic steroids can have a drastic effect on the development of a fetus. Adrenal Genital Syndrome is when a female fetus can develop male reproductive organs. So people who use steroids are not only risking their own health but the health of their own children.

When an athlete takes steroids, it may take longer for blood clots to form. That means simple things like nosebleeds or small cuts may take longer to stop bleeding. This is really important if an athlete needs surgery. What happens if an athlete taking steroids is in a car accident or needs to have surgery for any number of unforeseeable reasons?

Steroid use will have an impact on hormone levels. This could change a person’s mood. Depression occurs when a person’s hormone levels are off balance. Depression can lead to many other problems. It is not an easy thing to overcome and effects not only the athlete but everyone in his life.

Gynecomastia is the medical term for developing female breast tissue in the male body. This happens when a male has high levels of estrogen, which happens with the use of Dianabol. If left unchecked this can lead to obvious tissue growth and a very feminine appearance. Man boobs, I don’t think so!

The use of steroids can to premature hair loss. The use of steroids can impact the growth of scalp hair. This can lead to androgenetic alopecia.

When men use steroids, the body will stop manufacturing its own testosterone. The brain detects a high level of sex steroids and shuts down natural production. This can cause testicles to shrink. Need I say more.

These are just some of the side effects of steroid use. As an athlete I would rather NOT use steroids to enhance performance given the risks to my health. It is sad to think that other athletes do not consider these risks.

Mark McGwire and steriods

Mark McGwire has come clean, admitting that he used steroids when he broke the home run record in 1998. A big question to be asked however is did he really need steroids to hit homeruns. Being able to hit a homerun does not fully exist in power, sure it helps but it is not the only thing that you need. You also need to have a great swing, and that is something McGwire had. Mark told the MLB that studying the way pitchers threw the ball and cutting down his swing to make it short and compact led to his increase in homeruns. McGwire stated that he used performance-enhancing drugs on and off his career for nearly ten years. Being a great baseball player does not just mean being a good hitter, it also means being a good defensive player. People argue that mark McGwire was not a good first basemen. I think that he played his position very well even though he was much more valuable on the offence side of the field. McGwire also stated that he never used steroids to gain a strength advantage, but for “health purposes”. People could argue back and forth if mark McGwire was really a good player or if the steroids did most of the playing. The big question is does he deserve to be in the hall of fame?

Baseball is America’s pastime but things like steroids are ruining the game. Steroids give players an extreme advantage over players that do not use them. Players that use performance-enhancing drugs have an unfair advantage to natural players and receive all the fame and glory that should be given to the truthful players. Using steroids in baseball is cheating and players like Barry Bonds, who has the most homeruns in baseball, and Mark McGuire should not be recognized in the baseball hall of fame. Steroids make athletes bigger, stronger, and give them much more endurance without having to work for it. When people who use steroids break the records that past players worked so hard to get, it is not only a disgrace to the game, but it is a disgrace to that record. Baseball players are supposed to be good role models and when kids hear about these things they now think that is okay to take steroids. I believe that there is no place for steroids in any sport. It ruins the pureness of the game and makes it less enjoyable for everyone.
